Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Elementary Announcements

1.  Today is Friday, September 21, 2018.  It is Day 2. 

2.  Celebrating a birthday on Sunday is Aubrey!

3.  Homecoming 2018 T-Shirt Orders are now being taken.  If your student would like to order a t-shirt they can pick up an order form in the elementary office today.  Orders and payment are due MONDAY, September 24th.  No late orders will be accepted.  The price is $12.00 and checks should be made to Clarion-Goldfield-Dows.

4.  Next week is HOMECOMING WEEK!  Show your school spirit for the CGD Cowboys by dressing up at school: 

Monday – Pajama Day!
Tuesday – Tacky Tourist Day (wear floral, flip flops, vacation clothes, fanny pack)
Wednesday – Wacky Tacky Day (wear mismatched clothing, inside out, backwards etc.)
Thursday – Farm Day (flannels, jeans, boots and hats are allowed)
Friday – Spirit Day (red, white, black or your favorite CGD apparel)

5.  5th Grade Students & Parents:  There is a parent meeting on Monday, September 24th beginning at 6pm for those interested in joining the 5th Grade Band.  This is a good opportunity to meet the band teachers and to ask questions about the band program. 

There will be a brief presentation and followed by an opportunity for parents to rent instruments and purchase supplies needed to start in band from the music company.  If you own an instrument, you can bring it for Mr. Wesselink to look over.  If you have any immediate questions please contact Mr. Wesselink by email kwesselink@clargold.org  OR  phone 515-293-0653

6.  The Clarion Theater will be featuring a movie that follows the yellow brick road to the Land of Oz. There is no charge and everyone can attend.  The movie will begin at 6:30pm on Tuesday on September 25th

7.   Cub Scouts for 2nd and 3rd grade students begin Sept. 24th from 6 to 7 pm at the Methodist Church. Contact is Kathy Farwell: cat6955@gmail.com.

8.  Calling all kids Kindergarten thru 5th grade! Clarion Hiz Kidz is about to begin! 

What:  Clarion Hiz Kidz is a free after school program that includes snack, activities, Bible lesson, worship and the night ends in a free family meal served at 5:30pm. 

Who: All kids grads K-5th.

When: TUESDAYS from 3:30-6pm, beginning Oct 2. (**Note the change in days--we now meet on TUESDAYS!).

Where: The group walks to the Methodist church after school with an adult chaperone.

Registration night will be held Tuesday September 25, 5:30-6:30pm at Clarion 1st United Methodist Church, we will have a family meal, the longest banana split and you can get more information about our program and get your child registered. Bring your parents, bring your friends, all are welcome!

9.  The Clarion Public Library will be hosting the Mobile Museum on Wednesday, Sept. 26th from 12:00pm – 5:00pm.  Come and explore 3 fun exhibits about wildlife, endangered species and technology.  Kids in 2nd grade and under must please have an adult with them.

10.  The CGD Sports Boosters will be hosting a Tailgate Supper before the Cowboys Homecoming Game on Friday, September 28th. The meal will begin at 6:00 pm, inside the South gates.  Meal will be $5 and will include hamburgers, chips, cookie and a drink. The Sports Boosters would like to thank Troy and Beth Severson for generously donating the beef patties for this event! So please, stop by, enjoy a great meal, and support our CGD Cowboys!

11.  Sports Boosters are having a fundraiser painting driveway emblems.  This is a good way to show your CGD Spirit! Sign up to get a Huge 4.5ft × 4.5ft Painted Cowboy on your driveway or private walkway! We are asking for a minimum $25 donation. First paint day is Saturday, September 22.  Call Dee Huntley at 515-368–1169, Tammy Beisel  at 712-266-6488, or Rachel Stumpf at 515-293-1131.
