Meals on Wheels volunteers for today are Noelia & Bryce R., Tuesday  NEED volunteers, Wednesday Noelia & Maria S, Thursday Spencer  & Ami and Friday Noelia & Amaya.   Then you will be done till next year, first semester of your senior year. 

Congratulations to Kelsey Hansch for placing first in the Walker Race and 2nd in the 30 m Slalom and to Calista Briggs for placing 1st in the 30 m motorized straight race on Friday at the Special Olympics!

There will be State golf shirts to order but must redone online by midnight tonight.  I will be receiving the website to do so sometime today.

Final payments for Driver’s Education class are due by Thursday, May 31st.  You may use Revtrak to make payment.  Next Dr. Ed. class is Tuesday, May 22nd at 3:30-5:30. Makeup classes are May 21st and June 1st and 4th from 3:30-5:30.

The following NHS students will be unloading the truck for our frozen cookie dough fundraiser on Wednesday.  You will be excused over the intercom to help unload.

Thank you to the HS band and chorus for your beautiful music during the Commencement ceremony yesterday.  You received many compliments, and you were good ambassadors for our school.  

NO vocal lesson this week.  All HS Chorus students need to stay in class and prepare for semester tests.

Juniors:  Now is the time to start thinking about and taking your senior photos!  If you want summer photos please take them over this summer while the weather is nice!  For the yearbook, the senior photo deadline is in January.  You must have all of your yearbook information turned in to earn open campus.  Don’t delay - get your senior pictures taken care of!  If you cannot afford a photographer set up a time to take some photos with Mrs.Walker.  Thank you!

The Wright County Fair Board is seeking applicants for the 2018 Fair Queen Pageant.  In addition to prizes and a trip to the Iowa State Fair competition, the Queen will receive a $500 scholarship from Humboldt Mutual Insurance Association.  The contest is open to Wright County females that are at least 16 years old but not more than 21 on August 9th.  It is not necessary for applications to be 4-H or FFA members. Reminder:  Sunday is Commencement/Graduation.  The High School band also performs for Commencement.  No uniform required, dress up for the event.  Please arrive at 1:30pm.  We will tune in the band room before going into the gym.  

SENIORS: You will be performing "Moscow, 1941" during the Commencement ceremony on Sunday. Make sure to have your instrument in the gym before Commencement begins.

High School Chorus students: On Sunday, report for vocal warm-ups at 1:15 p.m.  Commencement begins at 2:00.  Also, please remember to wear dress clothes. All music need to be memorized.  

HS vocal lessons end on Friday, May 18.  There will be no lessons the week of May 21-25 and May 28-June 1.  Any chorus students needing a make-up lesson should take care of this by Friday, May 18.

The Wright County Fair Board is seeking applicants for the 2018 Fair Queen Pageant.  In addition to prizes and a trip to the Iowa State Fair competition, the Queen will receive a $500 scholarship from Humboldt Mutual Insurance Association.  The contest is open to Wright County females that are at least 16 years old but not more than 21 on August 9th.  It is not necessary for applications to be 4-H or FFA members. CGD high school flag team:  Training sessions and try-outs - sign up in the office by Thursday, May 10th, if you are interested in becoming a member of the 2018-19 flag team.  Training sessions are Monday and Tuesday, May 14th and 15th at 7:30 a.m. with try-outs being held Monday and Tuesday,May 21st and 22nd at 7:30 a.m.  Training sessions will meet in the high school band room.  All techniques and a short routine will be taught at the training sessions.  Dance experience is recommended but not required.  Contact Mr.Wesselink for more information.

Driver’s ed. class 4th payment needs to be made now.  

TAG meeting - end of year - attendance is required on Wednesday, May 9th, at 8:00 a.m. in the art room or 3:20 p.m. in the art room.  You may attend either session.  Seniors please come down to get your portfolio folders.  You do not have to stay for the meeting as it will be planning for next year.

Juniors:  Now is the time to start thinking about and taking your senior photos!  If you want sumer photos please take them over this summer while the weather is nice!  For the yearbook, the senior photo deadline is in January.  You must have all of your yearbook information turned in to earn open campus.  Don’t delay - get your senior pictures taken care of!  If you cannot afford a photographer set up a time to take some photos with Mrs.Walker.  Thank you!

Tonight the CGD High School Music Department will present the Graduation Concert at 7:00 p.m. in the CGDHS gym.  It is called the graduation  concert because we honor the seniors who’ve been involved in chorus or band or both.  Featured groups are:  concert band, jazz Band, Treble Clef choir, bass clef choir,and mixed choir.  High school chorus members begin vocal warm-ups at 6:15 p.m. while the high school band begins warm-ups at 6:45.  Also the CGD Music Boosters will serve refreshments immediately following the concert.  The public is invited to attend the concert and there is no admission charge.

The girls’ golf team finished 4th place on Monday in the NCC tournament with a score of 428.  Three girls finished in the top 15 of the conference:  Meghan Geary 9th, Cassie Mendoza 11th,and Eden Polzin 14th.  Other girls golfing for CGD were Karlie Sellner,Hannah Tew and Nicole Waters.  They finished only 3 strokes behind the third  place team.  Congratulations!

The boys’ track team took 2nd place in the Conference tournament yesterday which matched our standings in the regular season.  Zach Martin was runner-up medalist and All-Conference and Dalton Nesheim was 8th which was also All-Conference.  Congratulations!

 

JV boys’ golf meet in Clear Lake today with a leave time of 2:30.  Boys golfing are Brandon Schultz, Carter Goodall, Caden Hanson, Camden Hanson, and Raymond Boeset.

Seniors:  I have the formal 2018 graduation announcement if interested in purchasing for $1.25 for keepsake, scrapbooking, etc.

BAND LARGE GROUP CONTEST INFO:

DATE:  This Saturday, May 5th.

WHERE:  The Fort Dodge Middle School (located at 800 N. 32nd Street, just 3 blocks east of the Senior High School).

SCHEDULE:  The BAND ONLY schedule is as follows (please note the early arrival time):
    •    7:20am:  Arrive at CGD HS (quick rehearsal, pack, load)
    •    8:00am:  Load Buses & Depart
    •    9:45am:  Warm-Up  (9:45-10:10)
    •    10:15am:  Band Performs
    •    10:30am:  Band (Non-Choir) Students: 
    ▪    Pack & Load equipment.
    ▪    Students riding home with parents may leave as soon as we are finished performing.  Take your uniform & instrument with you.
    ▪    A bus of Band (non-choir) students will depart for Clarion as soon as it is loaded (est. 11:00am).  You are welcome to stay and watch the choirs perform if you wish.
    •    10:40am:  Choir Performs

NOTE: 
*  All students are expected to ride the bus to the Large Group Contest.

Looking for a Summer job:
The City of Clarion has an opening for a seasonal, full-time Pool Manager. The Pool Manager oversees daily operations of the Clarion Aquatic Center and concession stand. The preferred applicant will have Lifeguard certification, AED, CPR and BLS as well as ServSafe certifications.  Duties include scheduling, daily deposits, staff management, supply ordering and verification of timecards and other duties as assigned.
